“Sauna bathing” is associated with better heart health, lower inflammatory markers, and lower mortality rates. The more often you do it, the better the results. But gym saunas are a breeding ground for bacteria, dirty shoes, and unwanted conversations. And for the price of wellness centers, you might as well buy your own home sauna.
That’s how I ended up with my sauna, anyway. As someone who’s recovering from Lyme disease and mold illness, detoxing is an essential part of my wellness routine. I knew my sauna would pay for itself after just a few months, and I wanted something I could access easily from home (fewer spoons, you know?).
I landed on the Thera360 PLUS because their brand has such a good reputation, and they got their start with Lyme disease, too. This home sauna includes full-spectrum infrared light, earthing technology, and EMF mitigation for a high-quality home sauna experience (that’s better than a wellness center, in my experience). I’ve tested it out for a year, and here’s my honest review.
Investing in an at-home sauna is a big deal. It’s pricey, you need to find the right space for it, and there’s always the fear that you’ll “fall off the wagon” and the sauna will collect dust in your basement. So let me share my experience and tell you why the Thera360 is a must-have for any serious biohacker (and yes, you will use it).
✔️ EMF Mitigation and No Off-Gassing — This is so important because you don’t want added toxin exposure while your body is detoxing.
✔️ Full-Spectrum Infrared Light — Infrared light is a big wellness trend, and Therasage did it first. Using this light during a sauna session is said to provide a deeper detox. It also supports healthy skin (which I notice immediately after using the sauna).
✔️ Extremely Easy to Use — The sauna can be plugged into any outlet, and it’s super easy to set up (I timed myself, and it took less than five minutes).
✔️ It’s Suitable for People with Small Spaces — I live in a 900-square-foot apartment, and I’m able to keep this in my garage. I know the more popular home saunas are the wooden ones, but I don’t have the space.
✔️ Reasonable Price — Compared to other home saunas, the Thersage version is reasonably priced, especially for all the biohacking tools they pack into it (red light, grounding, and temperature control).
✔️ It’s Designed with Intention — The founders have personal experience with chronic Lyme disease, and they work hard to make sure their products are both effective and nontoxic. There are other home sauna brands that don’t take so much care with the nontoxic side.
🚫 It’s an Investment — Any home sauna will cost a lot up front.
🚫 You Can Only Sit in This Sauna — The Thera360 is designed for easy biohacking, but there’s not much room to move around.
🚫 Your Head Sticks Out — This is more of a strange aesthetic choice, but I understand why they made it this way. It doesn’t personally bother me, and it’s supposed to be healthier to heat up your core this way. But not everyone I’ve talked to loves this feature.
🚫 It’s Not Super Travel Friendly (In My Opinion) — I’ve seen people take these saunas on trips, and I’m both impressed and scared by that choice. The Therasage sauna is easy to move around your house, but it’s heavy when it’s all folded up. I personally wouldn’t take it on trips.
If you’re going to detox, do it right. The Therasage sauna is intentionally designed to enhance your detox, moving toxins out of your body quickly and effectively.

Both infrared light and sauna bathing are amazing on their own. But when paired together, they’re the ultimate power couple. The red light increases blood flow and penetrates deep into the skin layers, enhancing detox as you sweat. Both tools enhance skin health, too. The Therasage sauna is the only time I get full-body red light, which helps even my skin tone, reduce scars, fade stretch marks, and brighten my skin. I’ve really noticed a difference from using it.
I’m recovering from long-term mold exposure, so sauna bathing is a necessity in my wellness routine. But I don’t have the space for a luxurious wooden sauna (as much as I’d love one). The Therasage sauna is the perfect solution, since I can set it up in my garage and fold it up in a closet when I’m not using it. Based on my research and personal experience, I also think it’s much more effective than a more traditional steam sauna.

You’ve seen those memes about how insanely hot women like their showers, right? Hello, those are me. I really wasn’t sure what to expect from the temperature of the Thera360, but it’s actually perfect. You can heat the sauna all the way up to 170 degrees Fahrenheit, which will have you sweating in about ten minutes.
Effective detox is the main reason I have a home sauna, and this can be challenging on the body, especially with a chronic illness. So I don’t want to be exposed to EMFs and fabric off-gassing while my body is most vulnerable. You can tell the Therasage team really understands this, especially since they have personal experience with Lyme disease.
The sauna has built-in EMF mitigation and uses nontoxic bamboo materials (so no off-gassing). It also includes a grounding mat and negative IONs to enhance your recovery. Based on my research, it’s the best and safest home sauna for people with chronic illness because it’s designed that way.
The Therasage sauna isn’t meant to be a luxury spa experience; it’s meant to get the job done. That said, the experience is quite pleasant and easy. The chair is comfortable, and once you get used to the size, you’ll feel right at home. My favorite part is how quick and effective it is. Since the sauna heats fast and goes up to high temperatures, you can spend just 30 minutes in it and get really effective results.
This is one of the first questions I had about the sauna, too, but it’s super easy to clean. For one, the high heat and infrared light kills bacteria, so it’s somewhat self-cleansing. The best way to keep the sauna clean is to lay down towels before your session and sweat on those. Then throw them and the detachable sauna collar in the wash. If you sweat on the vinyl, you can use a damp cloth and mild soap to wipe it down.
If you’ve ever seen me with an IKEA project, you’ll know why the sauna assembly intimidated me. In fact, my sauna box sat in the garage for weeks before I finally got up the courage to begin the process. But trust me on this: it’s actually so easy. Like, embarrassingly easy. You pretty much just unfold the sauna, set it upright, and place a metal bar in the center to hold its shape. When you purchase the sauna, it comes with an assembly video that makes the process so easy to understand.

I asked this question before I bought my sauna, too. Many wellness centers offer infrared sauna therapy, and they come with great marketing and extra perks. But when you do the math, it simply doesn’t add up. The average infrared sauna subscription is around $100 per month, and it usually limits how often you can use the sauna. The Thera360 PLUS costs $1,428 (or $1,285 if you use my Therasage discount code). That means it costs about the same as a one-year wellness membership, and you can use it as frequently as you want.
The other option is to use a gym sauna instead of a home sauna. I did this for a year before I bought the Thera360, and I hated it. Most gyms have steam saunas, which don’t provide the benefit of red light, grounding, and other therapies you get with Therasage. Not to mention, a lot of people go into the sauna in their sweaty gym clothes and sneakers, and that’s just gross.
When you first buy the sauna, you’ll need to set it up. This is an easy three-step process, and Therasage will include an instructional video. Once it’s set up, you’ll plug in the sauna and let it heat up to your desired temperature (this takes about 15 minutes). Unfold the chair and lay a few towels down to catch any sweat. Then, set a timer and sweat it out. You can turn off the sauna manually or just wait for the timer to run out.
How long you stay in the sauna will depend on a few things: tolerance, current health, and health goals. A good rule of thumb is, to stay in the sauna for at least fifteen minutes after you start sweating. Don’t overdo it—especially if this is your first time using a sauna or if you have a chronic illness.

My one word of wisdom: stick with Therasage’s usage guidelines. If you’ve had a lot of toxin exposure, you need to detox slowly. This isn’t a competition, and it’s best not to overwhelm your body. Keep in mind, the combination of infrared light, high heat, and grounding is much more potent for detox than a typical steam sauna. You’ll make more progress and feel better when you start slow.
Here are some things that have helped me use the sauna responsibly (and not feel awful when I’m done):
I’ve used the Therasage sauna for over a year now, and it’s done so much to support my health goals. I’m grateful not to pay for a sauna membership or have to drive somewhere to detox. I love Therasage’s attention to detail and commitment to products that truly heal. The sauna has become an integral part of my wellness routine and a tool I use to biohack, detox, and recover from intense workouts.
